They are fired on by heat missiles, attacked by a rabid three-ton hippopotamus, and have to wade through impenetrable jungle. But despite everything, the expedition continues.

A charming gorilla named Amy, who was part of a scientific experiment, returns to her homeland in the jungle. She is followed by a romantic young professor, an opinionated female electronics expert, a gruff guide, an eccentric explorer and many others.

What they don't know is that she will lead them not just to her ancestral home, but to a mysterious land where the Lost City of Zinge, rich in its diamond deposits, is supposed to be located. But... everything unknown carries deadly danger.

The critics about this movie were extremely unkind. Kino viewers were more loyal to it, but rather restrained. And a woman from a video rental shop said: “What a great movie!”. Now you can imagine the choice I was faced with. What was I to do, and whether I should have watched this movie at all, however, I took a chance.

In the end, I watched a good adventure movie that I haven't seen in a long time.

When the heroes find themselves in a strange unknown country, almost alone with various predators and dangers, it is always incredibly interesting. And then there is the legend of the lost city full of treasures and its fierce guards. Wow, it's like I'm imagining every possible improbability at once. In addition, I am very impressed with Laura Linney, and she has one of the main roles here.

It's a movie that you'll miss and regret. DO NOT FORGET, the movie is based on the novel by Michael Creighton, which is already a guarantee of success.

I really liked Emmy the gorilla, which according to the plot was going to be released into the wild. This marmoset played just great, but I don't know to what extent it was a real gorilla (that is, I couldn't tell the difference between a live animal and an animated model). So you can see for yourself what level of special effects are put here, and this is for the 90s.

And the ferocious killer gorillas guarding the diamond city were really, truly creepy. I was afraid (really, really).

There were also some very aggressive hippos and unfriendly locals.

There's a lot to see. There's not even much to complain about. I would like to criticize the silly scenario (diamonds the size of a fist are not just lying on the ground like that), but my hand is not raised. It's a classic fiction of pure water, and I can't scold such a thing, because I respect the genre very much.

And so, I still very much hope that the movie will not disappoint you.
