The Wild Robot is animated by Chris Sanders, director of solidly excellent animated and feature films. And this time he didn't let it down and made my brain turn off the age restrictions so I sat for an hour and a half without taking my eyes off the screen.
I really enjoy these kinds of works. They're like sour marmalade or salted caramel - they give a different but vivid experience at the same time. “The Wild Robot” literally in a few minutes of narration can awaken different feelings: joy, anxiety, sadness, joy again, surprise, fear, sadness again, surprise again.... Although I'm not a creator, I can guess how difficult it is to find a balance between these feelings, keeping the rhythm of the story and not veering off into cringe. “The Wild Robot” literally keeps you from getting bored, but lets you experience the full range of emotions. Here we are just being introduced to the functions of Rozoom 7134's robot and we think he's just going to be the linchpin for the narrative. And here we are already fearfully worried about Rose's robot and hoping that she and her friends will do well.
The story not only entertains but raises a lot of important questions. About the essence of humanity, about wildlife and the animals in it, about family, friendship. About life and death. And about the importance of getting from the process, not just the result. A beaver named Grebun (Paddler in the original) won't lie. Pondering such questions is good for all ages.
“The Wild Robot” was the surprise of this fall in cinematography. Therefore, I categorically recommend watching it to everyone. Exactly everyone, adults, children and teens alike. This is the very case when the work is so whole and harmonious that it will suit all ages. I advise you not to pass it by.
