The Emperor's New Groove 4K 2000 Ultra HD 2160p
A cheerful musical film for the whole family about the boastful Emperor Kuzko, who decides to build a water park for his birthday. To do this, he decides to demolish one of the villages, but the emperor's advisor, Izma, attempts to assassinate Kazko in order to seize the throne. As a result, the emperor turns into... a llama and ends up in the possession of Pasha, a shepherd whose house is to be demolished to make way for the park. Upon learning of the llama's true origins, the shepherd offers to return the throne to the emperor in exchange for a promise to move the park to another location.
User Review
My review is unlikely to be positive, but regardless, I am not writing for the sake of ratings. Good old Disney, with its film revolution, remained in the middle of the 20th century, and the new generation is not searching for long, since everything they need has already been found. However, this does not prevent them from creating their own timeless classics.
The creation of such animations has been put on stream at Disney. They take a fairy tale from the peoples of the world, add a couple of well-known characters, such as a dim-witted character, a silent and fair character, an evil sorceress, a squirrel (if there is no squirrel, then everything... the film is doomed). And so on and so forth. They take graphic images, which are also well-known. The emperor, for example, reminded me very much of Aladdin, only here he apparently smoked weed throughout the entire film. And so a fairy tale is ready. Another great success for the famous studio.
It's a children's cartoon, and children's fairy tales don't exactly shine with philosophical insights. Therefore, we can assume that in the mid-70s, give or take 10 years, the studio finally found a surefire formula for success and is now actively using it.
In order not to repeat the pros and cons written in reviews of other cartoons made after Walt, I will try to find something that makes this cartoon memorable.
I'll start with the fact that there is unexpectedly little music and other sound effects, which are usually a trademark feature of Disney cartoons.
I was pleased with the translator. If it weren't for him, I'm not sure I would have watched the cartoon to the end. Although, no. I would have watched it, but it wouldn't have been as enjoyable.
The love story. That's where the surprise comes in. The emperor was NOT married off, and they didn't even find anyone for him. Not only that, they didn't even look. For Western cinema, this isn't just originality — it's uniqueness. I'm not against this storyline, but the fact that 1024% of movies rely on it is, you know, kind of annoying. Here, we are shown a fairy tale where this storyline exists. But the relationship is not between the emperor and some lucky woman, but within a peasant family. So everyone is happy. Bravo.
The visuals. Well, Disney is at its best here, as always. Experience is a powerful and indestructible thing. Beautiful, bright, positive.
There is no traditional American humor, which is a good thing, but it could be a definite plus.
Perhaps there is nothing more to add, because everything or almost everything we love about Disney fairy tales is here. And children don't need much. So, despite some repetitiveness and predictability, I give the cartoon a high rating and recommend it to all fairy tale lovers, as well as children of all ages.
