Look Back 4K 2024 Ultra HD 2160p
The overly confident Fujino and the shut-in Kyomoto couldn't be more different, but a love of drawing manga brings these two small-town girls together.
User Review
Schoolgirls Fujino and Kyomoto are rivals: they both love drawing comics (aka manga) and getting published in the school newspaper. But while Fujino is an energetic athlete, Kyomoto is a reclusive loner. Their meeting will change their lives.
From Tatsuki Fujimoto, author of Chainsaw Man! Even if you know nothing about anime and don't know who a mangaka is, you can easily imagine that Look Back is a bloody action movie. Surprise—it's actually a touching drama about growing up, friendship, rivalry, hard work, perseverance, patience... Very Japanese qualities, a very Japanese story... and just when you relax and decide that you've figured it out (the girls became friends, competition made them more skilled, and cooperation led to success), the plot takes a sharp turn and hits you in the gut. Particularly impressionable viewers (like me) may even decide that they have stumbled upon a fantastic story about parallel universes and the butterfly effect... only instead of a butterfly, here we have “vanshots” — short stories consisting of four pictures.
The story is short—less than an hour (formally, it's a short film). Therefore, if you internally aim for a full meter, you risk missing the mark, not distributing your attention properly, and the ending will catch you off guard, as if the last picture of the van shot has been torn off. It happens. Sometimes manga remains unfinished. That the person to whom you opened up the world suffered from that very world. So what should we do? As the classic said, stay in your room? Whatever we do, maybe we are all just characters in someone's amateur manga...
The central image of ‘Look Back’ is the hunched back of a mangaka (manga masters). The seasons change, schoolgirls grow up, the world around me changes and becomes either cute or deadly dangerous... and they just sit there, hunched over their sketchbooks with a simple pencil in their hands. And nothing else matters. Hey, mangaka! Look back!
