It did a good job with the visuals. It looked like the artwork from the series. And that's all I can say good about it. The plot was overly dramatic and long winded, even for being Macross and filled with more holes than all the golf courses in Scotland. I want to put them down but they would be spoilers and the whole movie is spoiled. It's like they crammed all the good stuff from Macross into a bad version and then squeezed the soul out leaving a dry, withered pulp. Okay, I have to have one spoiler alert, one lone fighter takes down the SDF-1 with all its guns firing and missing at suoer close range? Star Wars anyone? The characters are static only changing at the last moment and that seems contrived. I loved, loved, LOVED this series growing up and this just made my inner child play the Crying Game.
