At the heart of this narrative is James, a character who stands out because he completely defies the workaholic, conformist nature of his species. While the herd leader, Dick, and the rest of the group dismiss James's artistic drawings as an unproductive flight of fancy, his refusal to let them crush his spirit establishes him as a compelling protagonist driven by pure creative integrity. This conflict perfectly mirrors the exact wall of skepticism every lone visionary faces when defying societal conformity to chase a dream.
