Storyline
Believe it or not, even in Smalltown USA there are still people who are unfulfilled and unrelieved in the midst of plenty. Levonna and Lamar could have the perfect relationship *but* for Lamar's obsession with rear entry. After submitting to it one last time, Levonna comes up with a plan: While Lamar is trying find other tail to try his technique on, Levonna becomes Lola with the aid of a wig and a Mexican accent. A Mexican cocktail later, Lola finally has Lamar straight--but he wasn't awake for it. The gay marriage counselor, attracted to Lamar's problem, couldn't help them, and he must finally seek redemption at the church of Rio Dio Radio and the laying on of hands by Sister Eufaula Roo.

What the '70s movie industry had come to, and Russ Meyer along with it. The height of shamelessness. The triumph of lust. The reduction of human motivation to one simple and unsophisticated instinct. Whereas Russ Meyer used to admire simply large forms of female busts, and a little later, frontal views of naked women, he has now gone too far. He admires sex and fixates on it as the only universal mode of human satisfaction. Little satisfaction is socialization and pastime. The most intimate things are reduced to mechanistic triviality. What a scoundrel, he didn't even offer a plot as such and attacked the most precious thing - the traditional values of one-story America, formulated by Sam Wood in the movie 'Our Town' (1940).

What shamelessness! What shamelessness? I'm sure this is the question many will be asking. However, Russ Meyer boldly ventures into territory that has previously been very skillfully guarded by censors of all stripes. He decides to reflect on the role of sex in modern society, playing on all sorts of cinematic dogmas. It is quite correct to abandon the plot, emphasizing the viewer's attention to the issues of sex and ironizing the many fears that form the frustrations of modern society. It is no coincidence that it is based on a clinical... Pardon the unforced typo...Sam Wood's classic movie describing such a beautiful and ideal American society.

Meyer doesn't tend to get attached to the plot, he actually plunges the viewer into the world of sex, with exactly the same gusto that Kubrick had plunged his audience into the world of violence a few years earlier. Therefore, it is safe to say that 'Valley of the Ultra Vixens' is the orange of the world of sex. A world that envelops all things and at first glance is not noticeable at all. In this, Meyer's creative eye could well be placed with the films of 70s Fellini and Pasolini. Except that Meyer stayed true to himself by showing everything in close-up, keeping the original editing and working on minimal budgets. It's funny that unlike the Italian maestros, he paid much more attention to traditional relationships than to pseudo-exquisite perversions (remember at least 'Salo, or 120 Days of Sodom'). His work never became a worldwide unquestionable trend, nor was it unconditionally recognized.

There is a special pattern in the non-recognition of Russ Meyer by the general public. It so happens that relationships, the traditional relationship between a man and a woman, have not been so overly exposed over the years. Moreover, the notorious public morality has fought with much more zeal against the likes of Meyer, not too refined poets fascinated by 'big tits', than against the invasion of perverse allusions, from the subject of cannibals (the same Lecter) to the notorious 'XXY'.
