Uranus 1990

Spring 1945, a small town in the French countryside. One would expect the residents to be rejoicing at the arrival of peace, but their spirits aren’t exactly high: here, the war continues. The Communists are conducting a “witch hunt” and labeling anyone who had dealings with the Nazis a traitor. But those who profited from the war escape retribution. And those who truly supported the Nazis and Marshal Pétain also go unpunished. For various reasons, it’s impossible to bring to justice those who have money, power, and connections. And that’s exactly when poets come in “very handy.” They are weak, generous, kind, and defenseless—are such people needed for a bright future?
