The camera follows British intelligence agent George Woodhouse (Michael Fassbender): in a speakeasy bar, Philip (Gustav Skarsgard) hands him a sheet with five names of their mutual colleagues, including Catherine Woodhouse, George's wife. One of these people is a traitor who must be eliminated urgently. Severus, a top-secret malware capable of destabilizing nuclear facilities and causing an international catastrophe, has been stolen from the lab.
George gathers the colleagues on the list for a home-cooked dinner and slips a “truth serum” into one of the dishes, carefully warning his wife which one. The suspects gather around the table: office therapist Zoe (Naomie Harris), teller Clarissa (Marisa Abella), senior officer James (Rege Page), and scruffy-haired Freddie (Tom Burke). After an intense conversation, all evidence points to Catherine's involvement, but George takes risks to find irrefutable proof.
User Review
Steven Soderbergh's detective spy thriller starring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender. At first glance and at the inoculation it seems that there will be something psychological-talking. And indeed, the dynamics in the movie is not much. But in fact, it is more like a classic detective, with a trivial in form denouement. It seemed that there would be something more original and the general spy theme would turn out to be background. The movie turned out to be not bad, but not bright and rather passable.
Plot. The main characters are tops working as spies. Husband and wife, who managed to keep a long strong relationship, despite their work. The secondary key characters are two other tops and their companions, also working in the spy department. All of them are sort of friends. There's also a boss, played by Pierce Brosnan, and he's kind of not really involved. And here the main character is given the task to find a mole among his colleagues. His adoring wife is also under suspicion. And the case concerns a secret thing, which if it falls into the wrong hands, it will be a disaster.
Expected something more original, but made and played well, the plot is not bad and it is interesting to watch. A quiet entertaining witty movie for the evening.
