If Fritz Lang hadn't made this film, it could easily have been one of Frank Miller's Sin City stories. Why not? An honest cop with a knockout punch. A wide-open coat and a ridiculous hat. A fierce gaze, sound words and decisions that are entirely in accordance with the letter of the law. But later on, the kings of the city will appear - an all-powerful politician and his henchmen, who love to torture women and murder the hero's wife. All this inevitably leads to a harsh ending, where Gloria Graham, a strange beauty with a half-burned face, will set the tone in a completely unexpected way. Even the manly villain played by Lee Marvin will be forced to admit defeat.

However, Glenn Ford will look great here against the backdrop of two beauties - the sexy simpleton Gloria Graham and Marlon Brando's older sister. Together, they will create such an interesting composition that the film will be remembered for a long time. And so convincingly and tensely that even the theme of plausibility is lost. In reality, everything would probably happen as it does in Damiano Damiani's “The Octopus” universe.
