Alexander 4K 2004 Ultra HD 2160p
Alexander the Great, heir to the Macedonian king Philip, ascended the throne at the age of twenty and almost immediately led his legions against the great Persian Empire. After defeating the Persians, Alexander went even further—to what seemed to be the edge of the earth—to India...
Forty years after Alexander's death, the elderly Ptolemy, one of Alexander's closest associates, who became governor of Egypt after his death, decided to recount and record the history of the great commander's victories. For eight years, Alexander the Great's army marched eastward toward the shores of the world's oceans. Having conquered Western and Central Asia, Alexander was the first to set foot on the mysterious and enigmatic land of ancient India. He had dreamed of this since childhood, listening to myths about Troy and the exploits of Hercules and Achilles...
User Review
Director Alexander Oliver Stone differs from other directors. First and foremost, he differs from other American directors in his view of the world. He does not espouse raucous jingoism. He views the same war from the perspective of personal tragedy in the film Platoon. We see the same thing in Alexander.
It is logical that Alexander, as a film, is in no way inferior to the highly praised Troy or Gladiator, but it turned out to be less popular because of its more drawn-out scenes, long pauses in the battle scenes, and fewer action scenes. Some may even be put off by the film's bisexual arc, but in my opinion, it only serves to reveal Alexander better.
It is a very vivid film with vivid dialogue that is not boring to watch at all. The film rushes through the fate of Alexander the Great, and each episode of this fate leaves its mark on Alexander, each episode tells us about his relationships with other people and deepens them.
The cast is very strong.
I think this is Colin Farrell's best role. Here he is brave, kind, and enthusiastic. However, he can be quick-tempered and unstable. My poor writing skills cannot convey this, but the palette of emotions and the actor's performance are of the highest level. The supporting cast is also top-notch, with standout performances from Jolie, Hopkins, and Jared Leto. Bravo.
I disagree with most people about the battles. They are very realistic here, shown in minute detail, but at the same time not overloaded. From battles with the Persians in the desert to battles in India with elephants. Babylon is incredibly beautiful. In what other film can you see something like this? A true epic about Alexander. It's hard to say whether modern directors could fit as much into one film as Oliver Stone did.
