User Review
The second part turned out to be more serious, even a bit grittier. Although the story still stays within the bounds of being “for young and middle-aged children.”
It’s still the same giant turtle that prefers to walk on its hind legs—which is actually quite unusual for this reptile—though so is flying at supersonic speeds. We could also mention its monstrous fangs, which serve no practical purpose, but the bursts of fire from its mouth pose a very real threat to a new, even more powerful enemy—an insect-like monster.
The destruction wrought by both is simply catastrophic. Buildings crumble like matchboxes, and this is filmed quite spectacularly. The result is something between a disaster movie and Japanese horror stories about Godzilla.
By the way, after watching this movie, you might form a superficial opinion about the Japanese Self-Defense Forces—in the film, their actions (and appearance) are simply laughable.
However, I repeat, it’s a pretty spectacular and “unobtrusive” movie.
