Punishment Park 1971

Mockumentary. A handful of people unwilling to fight in Vietnam—a singer of hippie songs, a civil rights activist, and just a bearded guy with no desire to serve—are dragged into court, where they’re sentenced to absurdly long prison terms. The trial turns into a generational conflict, a clash of worldviews, and an attempt by old men broken by capitalism and their shriveled wallets to impose their views on passionate, inspired young people. Everything is as usual, except that after the “trial,” they’re taken straight to Punishment Park, located in the desert, where the younger generation of cops trains on them. They train to use weapons, of course.
