Slumdog Millionaire 2008

Jamal Malik, an 18-year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, is just one step away from winning the game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and taking home 20 million rupees. The game is interrupted when the police arrest him on suspicion of cheating. How could a young man who grew up on the streets know so much? During police questioning, Jamal recounts the sad story of his life: the adventures he shared with his brother, his run-ins with local gangs, and his tragic love story. Each chapter of his personal story miraculously provided him with the answers to the quiz show’s questions. When the game resumes, the police inspector and sixty million viewers will want to know the answer to just one question: why did this young man, with no apparent desire for wealth, decide to take part in the TV show?
