On November 14, 1974, the voice of a madman in the telephone receiver led police to the DeFeo family home where they discovered something horrifying - 6 dead bodies - the entire DeFeo family. They had been killed with a .35 caliber revolver while they were sleeping peacefully in their beds. Ronald DeFeo admitted that he was the one who methodically shot his parents, brothers and sisters. A year later, on December 18, 1975, George and Kathy Lutz moved into the DeFeo home with their three children. They dreamed of their dream home, not realizing the dreams would turn out to be a nightmare. Who said the movie wasn't scary? I'd like to look the braggarts in the eye! In fact, the movie is very competent, well made and evokes real horror.
It's always scary when the action takes place in an ordinary house, but it's even scarier when something happens to defenseless children. The visions of the main character are worth it, and I'm not even talking about the basement. In general, if you are tired of stamped horror movies with maniacs methodically killing their stupid victims, watch 'The Amityville Horror'.
There you will find really creepy moments, unexpected plot twists and not bad musical accompaniment. I guarantee you will remember the image of the house for a long time. The movie goes into the golden collection of 'Must see, must have'.
