Storyline
The Law Enforcement Technology Advancement Centre (LETAC) has developed SID version 6.7: a Sadistic, Intelligent, and Dangerous virtual reality entity which is synthesized from the personalities of more than 150 serial killers. LETAC would like to train police officers by putting them in VR with SID, but they must prove the concept by using prisoners as test subjects. One such prisoner is ex-cop Parker Barnes. When SID manages to inject his personality into a nano-machine android, it appears that Barnes might be the only one who can stop him.

If you are devilishly clever, ingenious, intelligent, and skillful with weapons, you are a person to pay close attention to. But if you're also an android with the behavioral characteristics of over two hundred of the most sophisticated and brutal killers programmed into your program, and you've escaped into a human environment, it's no wonder you'll be hunted.

This is Sid 6.7 (Russell Crowe), a virtual assassin for police training. Not without the help of an ambitious and vengeful creator, he escapes the tight confines of the computer program and finds himself on the streets of the city. To catch him, former policeman Barnes (Denzel Washington), who has been in prison for the last few years, is assigned to catch him. Barnes is promised freedom for catching Sid. When his thirst for freedom intersects with Barnes' personal interests, the elimination of a virtuoso killer becomes the goal.

This futuristic action movie is made on a fairly average level, and it could be equated to the gray mass of the same movies that were made in large numbers in the 90-ies of the last century in Hollywood. But in 'Virtuosity' among the bright acid scenery of the city (I wonder where the opinion came from that in the future, everything that will surround people will be of such wild, eye-cutting colors?) and gray-suit mass of its inhabitants there is only one, but saving the whole film dignity - a super-ordinary image of the villain, masterfully embodied by Russell Crowe.

Against the background of academic game Denzel, simply created to play a policeman, the whole movie has two facial expressions - suffering from the memories of the murdered wife and daughter and a firm determination to 'kill the bastard' - Russell's character just shines with the whole spectrum of emotions. Sid 6.7 loves colorful costumes, and his velvet voice can be confusing. He muses on the piano and plays chess with the same ease that he takes people's lives. Plus this psycho doesn't just kill, he does it with childlike directness and a kind of grace. That's the purpose of his existence. It's a game he lives for. His victims are the audience he needs, and his stalker is the only friend he has that allows him to be in the game.
