Kraven the Hunter 4K 2024 Ultra HD 2160p

A solo project about one of the villains of the Marvel universe. Sergey Kravinov, an immigrant from Russia, becomes a big game hunter and one of Spider-Man's nemeses.

Maybe it's the low expectations I had for the movie, but I wasn't disappointed in the slightest by 'Kraven the Hunter'. And I don't agree that this is Sony's worst movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as many have dubbed it. Personally, I got exactly the movie I was hoping for. But let me get to the point.

I will start, perhaps, with the disadvantages. And the main ones are inarticulate direction and frankly weak script. And the fact that the movie was remade in the process of creation is noticeable even not the most sophisticated viewer. There are more holes in the plot than Swiss cheese. And special effects would be good for a cheap TV series, but not for a blockbuster with a multi-million dollar budget.

The antagonists of the movie also failed. Somehow they are completely gray, shambolic and faceless. And their motivation makes you scratch your chin with a frown.

But for all that, 'Kraven the Hunter' still 'pulls' the viewer in. And for all its many disadvantages, it was fascinating to watch. There are not so many action scenes, but they are staged quite well. And giving it an 'R' rating was definitely a good thing.

Kraven the Hunter is one of my favorite characters in the Spider-Man universe. And casting Aaron Taylor-Johnson in his role was definitely a good decision. Craven in his performance turned out to be as canonical as possible. The actor was able to fully into the image of his hero, to convey the character. And, importantly, he evokes the emotions of the viewer. Not a bad impression made by Ariana Debose and Fred Heckinger. And for some references to the comics I also put a small plus to the movie.

'Kraven the Hunter' definitely had potential. But, I'm not afraid of the word, the mediocrity of the director and writers turned a potentially cool superhero action movie into a completely passable, B-grade movie.
