Cobra 4K 1986 Ultra HD 2160p
He is “Cobra,” a one-man police assault squad, tasked with a bloody job that no one else wants (or dares) to take on. He tracks down a murderer who is being pursued by an army of maniacal criminals seeking to destroy the witness to their bloody rampage. Fortunately, she falls under Cobra's protection.
User Review
A series of brutal murders is taking place in the city, with victims coming from all social groups (rich, poor, children, women), which is unusual for a serial killer, who usually prefers a specific type of victim. All measures taken by the police prove useless, and the conveyor belt of death continues to operate, delivering corpses every night.
Lieutenant Cobretti (nicknamed Cobra) suspects that a large and organized group of people is behind the nightly murders that are terrorizing the city. His theory is confirmed by a witness to one of the murders, model Ingrid Knudsen (played by Brigitte Nielsen), who saw several identically dressed people near the scene of the crime. Cobra is assigned to protect the girl, but because there are people working for the killers in the police force, he is forced to leave the city in an attempt to hide the witness.
The plot of this film is not its main strength, and the villain is more like a caricature designed to scare children than a real person. In general, Cobra was in danger of becoming an average action movie that viewers would forget a month after its release, if it weren't for Stallone. His character has a magnetic appeal, and watching him is a pure pleasure. His gait, movements, terse phrases, and a bunch of little details ultimately made Lieutenant Cobretti's image, if not iconic, then certainly memorable to the viewer.
The minimalism we see on screen does not give the impression of poverty or scarcity, which is often characteristic of bad low-budget films. On the contrary, the urban setting in which the action takes place creates a sense of authenticity and realism.
The shootouts, of which there are quite a few in the film, are done at a decent level, without any exaggerations such as blood spurting from a wounded finger up to the ceiling, but also without excessive concern for the delicate psyche of the viewer. Watching the film, you realize that there will be no more films like this, because apart from the fact that Sly is already over sixty, you have to take into account the fact that the sincerity that was present in such simple films in terms of content and substance has now given way to films with an abundance of special effects, which are churned out like hotcakes and which, for the most part, are as similar to each other as twins.
I don't want to disparage modern cinema, but I will say that after Schwarzenegger and Sly, who embodied the image of the hero who establishes justice not with intelligence but with strength, no star of their caliber has appeared on the cinema Olympus. This thesis of mine is proven by the film Cobra, which, despite its mediocrity, thanks to Stallone's personality, has been on the screens for twenty years and has not aged.
