Clark Kent / Kal-El is a young man who feels like an outsider because of his incredible power. Many years ago he was sent to Earth from the developed planet Krypton, and now he asks himself: why? Man Of Steel (2013) in REMUX 4K.
Fostered by the adoptive parents of Martha and Jonathan Kent, Clark knows: having superpowers means making difficult decisions. But when humanity needs stability most of all, it is attacked. Will the hero be able to restore the world, or will he use his power to finally destroy it?

A genius can not only create a new, but also transform the old.

I've never loved movies about Superman and Spider-Man. All too pathetic, too fabulous, too snotty. Therefore, "Man of Steel" in 2013, I quietly missed. But I then missed one very important detail - the director. Zack Snyder. His Keepers and Forbidden Reception have long been in my golden collection of favorite films. Maybe I then saw the director, but did not attach any importance to this, thinking something like "Well, there you can make interesting from the superman ...". Can. Snyder is a person who can not only create a new, but also radically transform the old.

To the "Man of Steel" I was led by the advertised novelty "Batman vs. Superman". I really like Christopher Nolan's Batman, these films are very different from all the other superhero analogs. And again, Batman, but not like that. Which one then? And again Snyder. An interesting combination that interested me. Reading reviews on this film, I saw that people emphasize the originality of the characters and their significant difference from the films of other directors. Batman looks sterner. Even more severe? Where else, at Nolan Batman was the severity and brutality itself. And the image of the superman just equaled to the first film Zak - "Man of Steel." That's when I realized that I missed something very interesting. And I was not mistaken.
Man Of Steel (2013) download now REMUX - original blu-ray.
Forget all the other superman movies that you've watched before. The similarity you will find except in the costume of the hero. Everything else is different, well, absolutely everything. No pathos, games for the public, super-heroic tricks in the style of "saving the beauty in the last seconds and thwart the applause of the crowd", no love sopley and novels. For the whole film in the frame, there is only one kiss and that one gets so out of the general atmosphere of the film that it seems Snyder has long been forced to leave him all the same for the ladies' audience. The hero "superman" is actually called only once for the entire film. And sometimes it is even called an "alien". Stranger, Carl! But it's true. This is a completely serious, harsh and philosophical story about a man from another planet. Who is he, where did he come from, who were his parents, why and how did he end up on the Earth? All these subtleties are perfectly transmitted in the film. What kind of creature is he, why is he here, do he need people, how should humanity react to him? All this is transmitted not only through voiceover, but also through actions, actions, reactions. The plot is excellent! There are no comic super-villains who have escaped from laboratories and tossing fireballs and lightning. Everything is tied to the personal history of the superman himself and is tied very logically and epic.

Having looked at this film, the thought comes that if the superman really is and he appears to people - everything will happen just like this. So real, so hard, so hard and so incredulous, dangerous. I was once again convinced that Zak Snyder is a living genius of modern cinema. And now I know for sure that I will not miss more than one of his films.

P.S. Having looked at the "Man of Steel", it becomes a little more understandable, why actually the Batman VS Superman and why these two quarrel. Be sure to check the steel man before watching a new movie with a conflict between Batman and Superman.

Man of Steel 4K Blu-ray, Video Quality 3.5 of 5 1080p 5.0 of 5

Like the Blu-ray before it, Man of Steel's HEVC / H.265/2160p UHD was derived from a 2K digital intermediate. The Blu-ray is great, and so does the UHD. The difference between them is marginal. Warner has continued its customary restraint in the application of HDR encoding, leaving the film's palette largely unchanged. HDR's improved brightness and contrast, produce minor enhancements, but they are almost impossible to switch on and off. To take one example: In the shot where the Coast Guard vessel bearing Clark Kent / Superman first sights an oil drilling platform burning in the distance, the metallic structure and the flames. This may be one of the few instances I've seen on UHD where HDR's intensification of flame imagery works to the film's advantage (although, in general, Man of Steel's fire effects do not seem to suffer from the animated artificiality observed in the 4K versions of Batman v Superman and Mad Max: Fury Road). Another example of the gains in depth and texture can be seen in the Kansas cornfields surrounding the Kents' farm, where the stalks of corn are slightly greener and more distinct. Least improved (or not at all) are the CG-laden sequences on Krypton and the massive participation of Metropolis in the fight against General Zod.

Man of Steel 4K Blu-ray, Audio Quality 5.0 of 5

Man of Steel's 7.1 soundtrack received a 5.0 rating in its DTS-HD MA presentation, which gives me no room to increase that score for the Dolby Atmos home-theater remix offered on UHD, but I would if I could. As my colleagues noted earlier, the film's audio engineers achieved a remarkable balance between bombastic action sequences (notably, the Krypton battle and Zod's attack on Earth) and quieter dramatic moments in aurally rich environments. The Atmos remix has refined the experience even further, with enhanced localization, immersion and differentiation among multiple competing sound elements. Even in the deafening orgy of destruction that climaxes the film, specific sounds are now more distinctly rendered.

Among the quieter moments that now register more forcefully is the conversation between Clark and Martha Kent after Clark returns from his Arctic adventure; as mother and son converse, they are surrounded by the murmur of the countryside's bird and insect life and the rustling of the crops in the wind-and in the Atmos remix, they're really surrounded, to the point where you feel that you can almost reach out and touch the environment. Meanwhile, their dialogue has been clear and intelligible, rising above the farmland's low roar with just enough heft to achieve a perfect balance. (I suspect one could listen to this mix a dozen times and still keep finding new elements.)

Note, that, if your system lacks Atmos capability, you will get a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 core, which replicates the Blu-ray's soundtrack.
