So what is this movie about? And what a strange title it is after all - 'The Fall'! But it really is the beyond! The beyond of life and the beyond of the human soul. The soul is a futuristic and inexplicable substance inside every human being. The soul is the very place that vividly and truthfully reflects our entire life. The soul is the beyond.
Roy is a Hollywood stuntman. Well, he used to be. He's just out of the game. A bad stunt on a bridge and-- Anyway, now he's just a poor, crippled guy who nobody wants. And he had everything in his life! There was his favorite business, there were friends, there was the one and only one, for whose sake and jump off the bridge is not a pity and any miracle is possible to create. But all this was before the accident, and now there was no trace of it. It's as if it never existed at all. Roy is forgotten by his comrades and abandoned by the girl he loves. He's lost everything. He's lost his life. What does the future hold for him? Endless visits to hospitals, an endless stream of operations and rehabilitation? Doctors instead of friends. A nurse instead of a sweetheart. A wheelchair instead of endless travel and adventure. No, Roy can't and doesn't want to live this miserable existence. He's already found another way out.
Alexandria is a small but very independent girl. She is no more than six years old, but she already sees the world with her own eyes. She's also in the hospital. But for a different reason. If Roy risks his life at will, Alexandria is simply forced to work with her mother on orange plantations. She fell once and seriously injured her arm. The doctors insisted that she stay in the hospital and that is why she was here. It must be said that Alexandria was not bored. Having reacquainted with all the staff, the girl made friends with some adult patients. The meeting with Roy was accidental and unplanned. She was very interested in the tale he began to tell her. They even became friends. By fulfilling some of his requests, she was getting a continuation of the story of the Black Bandit and the noble robbers.
It is clear that Roy was very much interested in this little girl, but what was it that caught his attention? I'm not going to answer that question. It is clear that there is nothing in common between them. When he noticed that Alexandria did not let go of some box he asked: -
- What's in your box?
- Everything I love.
There is a small period of time in everyone's life when it seems that everything that is loved can be carried away in a small tin box. When you don't yet understand too much about death, separation, illness and other cruel manifestations of life. Then the true values for you are the little things: - beautiful wrappers, sparkling glasses, small finds and dried flowers. Alexandria is just in this carefree but wise period of childhood. She unconsciously appreciates and loves all the little things that make up life. She is still capable of feeling a genuine fondness for the characters Roy has invented. Within days of meeting him, she opens up her whole soul to him, causing him to do the same.
This movie struck me in the heart. I don't even know how to fully express the feelings I had while watching it and am feeling now. I think it would be enough to say that I watched it twice in one day, and I didn't notice how the time flew by! This has never happened to me before! This picture is beautiful in everything: - the music, the costumes, the feelings, the plot. Everything is expressed in a mercilessly vivid way, but how magnificent! I have never seen anything like it and I am afraid that I will not soon see anything as strong and deep. This movie turned my whole world and my whole idea of cinema upside down. Further description is useless. It is a must see for everyone. You can't not see it.
