A Knight's Tale 4K 2001 Extended Ultra HD 2160p
Storyline
Inspired by "The Canterbury Tales," as well as the early life of William Marshall (later First Earl of Pembroke), this is the story of William, a young squire with a gift for jousting. After his master dies suddenly, the squire hits the road with his cohorts Roland and Wat. On the journey, they stumble across an unknown writer, Chaucer. William, lacking a proper pedigree, convinces Chaucer to forge genealogy documents that will pass him off as a knight. With his newly-minted history in hand, the young man sets out to prove himself a worthy knight at the country's jousting competition, and finds romance along the way.
User Review
For three years I couldn't sit down for this review: first I didn't have time, then I didn't have the strength. And what can one write about something that has been loved for years and reviewed more than once? About what gave you (and the world) a stunningly sincere, truly sunny actor? Gave and almost immediately took away....
Many people say that A Knight's Tale is a one night movie. I disagree! It's a real fairy tale for adults! Don't we need fairy tales and belief in miracles every day?
As the years go by, the world changes and we ourselves change. What sophisticated cynics we have become! In an ordinary fairy tale we look for a correlation with historical facts, in a cartoon - a hundred percent similarity to real events, and in a documentary - a trick. Please! Please! Be able to remain (at least for 2 hours of viewing) children! Don't get hung up on the historical details, don't criticize the predictable ending, and just enjoy watching.
A Knight's Tale is exactly the kind of movie that should be treated as a miracle. Terrific acting tandem, interesting plot, excellent, good humor, bright characters, great music - isn't it all worthy of your attention?
Separately, I would like to mention the actors. They are really masters of their craft - beautiful, talented, with emotions in their eyes (Paul Bettany, Rufus Sewell, Shannyn Sossamon, Mark Eddy, Alan Tewdick, James Purefoy). Later they shine many times in other films, but this one is the starting point for many.
I'd like to say a lot about Heath Ledger, but just what? Admire his acting, talent and charm? Everyone can do it after death, but HIM doesn't care anymore. To sing wistful songs about the fact that we begin to appreciate people only when we lose them? That's too trite and no one needs (until later) the truth. I'll just say that Heath Ledger was truly great.
