While rafting in the Bluefish River area, four college kids are attacked by the mutant cannibal Three Finger. Only the teenager Alex succeeds in escaping through the woods. Meanwhile, a group of dangerous criminals are transported from the West Virginia Grafton in a custody bus escorted by three guards through the backwoods. When they park in a stop in a police station, Sheriff Carver is informed about the missing teenagers. The bus driver heads to their destination with the guards and the prisoners but a tow truck driven by Three Finger hits that bus that falls off the road. They are attacked by Three Finger and the perilous dominates the guards and the other plus prisoners. When they accidentally meet Alex, the girl tells how sick and threatening Three Finger is; soon Alex is telling the truth.

User Review

This may sound like a futile attempt at justification, but compared to the second and fifth parts, the third “Wrong Turn” isn't so bad. Yes, it's significantly worse than the first and fourth parts, but unlike the second, at least it focuses on chases and conflicts between characters. Considering its low budget, the cinematography is quite good, although it doesn't quite reach the level of fear of the first part.

Of the trio of mutants that viewers loved so much in the first part, only Three-Fingered is present here. In the original, the character survived by hunting tourists, but now he has more fun chasing pretty girls and shooting his bow. All this takes place in the forest, where, by coincidence, a group of escaped prisoners is passing through. Ruling his territory, our laughing mutant decides to do what he does best—hunt in the fresh air. It must be said that, despite the mediocre acting, the script more or less moves the film forward, so some scenes turned out to be quite interesting. Since the franchise has unwittingly turned into a black comedy since the second installment, there is plenty to laugh about here. Take, for example, the first murder, the most piquant of them all.

There is not the same level of gore as in the second installment, which is a relief. At the very beginning, however, we are shown a very computer-generated murder with dismemberment, but the level of graphics in such a film is predictably extremely low. In an effort to save money even on fake blood, we are shown implausible red puddles that would look just as unnatural in Paint. But on the other hand, we have a familiar location with the killers' lair, which is full of torture devices. If this house were bigger, it would be almost like the slasher film House of the Dead. By the way, what is the main law in slasher films? That's right, villains have a habit of coming back to life. This has been the case since at least Halloween, where Michael Myers always had trouble dying.

Of course, Three-Fingered Jack isn't Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees, but he's pretty good at getting on his victims' nerves. And when the writers put a little effort into the plot and add a couple of twists to the film, it's almost perfect. If only the actors knew how to act... My neutral rating is mainly due to the presence of explicit scenes, the final surprise, and the simply beautiful forest where the events take place. The forest is beautiful, isn't it?
