The successful sales of the original space-themed toys gave rise to a television animated series, which in turn led to the creation of this comic-book-style feature film—packed with “Star Wars”-style special effects—about the battle between good and evil. The once-beautiful planet Eternia lies in ruins, having fallen victim to the demonic Skeletor (Langel) and his vile minions. Eternia’s hero, Xe-Man (played by Lundgren), and his allies flee to a planet of strange creatures and customs. This is Earth, the next battlefield against Skeletor and his henchmen.

A long time ago, back in the ’80s and ’90s, this wonderful sci-fi adventure action movie was extremely popular. And even now, it remains a favorite of many and is a real page-turner. In the year of its release, "Masters of the Universe" was a box office hit and had a fairly large budget for its time. The film featured superb special effects and an excellent soundtrack, which were its main strengths.

The film’s plot is very interesting and gripping. In the story, the hero, Dolph Himen, along with his brave team, travels to Earth to save it from the evil army of the ruthless Skeletor, who has seized power on the once-beautiful planet Eternia. Skeletor and his army follow close behind, and to stop these ruthless and brutal enemies, Heimen and his team must face numerous battles and difficult trials—otherwise, yet another planet may fall under Skeletor’s rule.

It’s worth noting that the film is generally intended for children. There’s none of the graphic violence typical of the Chuck Norris or Jean-Claude Van Damme movies released at that time. On the contrary, the film is heartwarming and certainly won’t leave viewers disappointed after watching it. It’s a film about true friendship and love.

The budget was well worth it. As I mentioned earlier, the special effects are simply superb, and it’s a real shame that they don’t make movies like this anymore. The acting and direction are top-notch. And Skeletor embodies such a cruel and ruthless villain that you can tell just by looking at him what his evil intentions are.
