The Grinch lives on a hilltop above the town of Ktograd with his dog Max. Every year during Christmas, the Grinch's hatred for the happy residents of Ktograd grew more and more. They gave each other presents, enjoyed holiday dinners and sang songs in the town park, not even aware of the Grinch's accumulating resentment. One day, the Grinch decided to ruin Christmas. Dressed as Santa Claus, hastily outfitted and having his dog pull him on a sleigh, he sneaked into the homes of the town's residents and stole their gifts, food, and decorations....

User Review
According to the good old tradition under the passing old year, which at the end decided to take influential and famous people in industrial, it seems, scales, I write a review about something New Year's, bright and joyful, while squinting out the window at the almost completely absent snow and dirty ice. But maybe it's a little early to whine? Quite possibly. Because, as the traditional cult cartoon 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas', based on the fairy tale by no less cult writer Dr. Seuss, says, Christmas is in us, in the belief that the New Year is coming and that everything will be fine there.

As a character, in principle, the Grinch is widely known from the feature film - bright, but redundant and clumsy, in which only Kerry, packed in a stuffy but plastic green suit, and the girl, who was greatly helped by the absence of complex makeup, were unequivocally good. And without drawing any parallels, I can only say that twenty-five minutes of animation was no worse, and even more cheerful and fun than an hour with a gak timing with a hundred-twenty-three million dollar budget and the director of 'Apollo 13' at the helm.

It's just that there was no need to stretch anything out. There's the grumpy Grinch living as a hermit on a gloomy mountain with his deeply unhappy dog Max, there are the freakishly happy Catwomen living in the town below, and there's Christmas, which, being the generator of Universal Love and Galactic Happiness for all the Catwomen, is something nasty, unnatural and unfair for the Grinch. However, the Grinch's cunning plan to steal Christmas (steal all the trees, decorations, food and presents) opened the green villain's eyes to the fact that even without the external trappings of the holiday the Whos will joyfully meet and celebrate. Because happiness is not in Christmas trees. And not in tinsel. And in the end everyone will be happy.

Well, while I hope that all of us will also be well, I would like to note the excellent animation, with bright, clear colors. Not without reason, because Chuck Jones took the animation team straight from 'Tom and Jerry' generation of 1963, and this period, in my opinion, is not inferior to the original works of Hanna-Barbera - with some plot flaws (sometimes there was no plot as such), the series of '63 was characterized by excellent visual style, a little grotesque, and with completely unique faces of characters, which also moved here (to look at the face of the Grinch - one pleasure). It is worth noting the excellent transitions between some scenes.

This is such a classic cartoon about a malicious prick, who realized the whole Essence and got better. I wish I could be like that. And everyone. Because the New Year is the time when we, despite everything, continue to believe in something, forgive something to someone, and of course listen to the words that there will be a stable economy, life will be better, life will be more cheerful, that there will be happiness, that there will be, will be, will be. In fact, we live to dream, strive and be happy with what we have achieved. Have a good New Year, thanks to Dr. Seuss and Jones for a great cartoon, and more of your favorite movies in the coming year. Not cult movies. Not great. Just favorite.
