It's the kind of movie you probably never forget. “Elvira: Mistress of the Dark” may be loved or hated, but you will definitely never forget it.

A nighttime show host with huge breasts and bad ratings dreams of starting her own sideshow in the much-suited Las Vegas. A change of management, one small and extremely unsuccessful “offer” from a fat cowboy director and now Elvira is already fired and there are almost no obstacles for her to conquer the city of sin. The city of big casinos and Elvis Presley.

But there's only one problem - to launch the long-awaited dream requires at least 50 thousand dollars. And if it weren't for the inheritance from his recently deceased aunt....

However, about this a little later.

Perhaps we should say at once that “Elvira: Mistress of the Dark” is not only a parody of a horror movie or a black comedy with ironic views on the usual small-town society. It's their extremely rattling combination with the presence of the gorgeous Cassandra Peterson who made this movie as iconic as say “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” or most of Russ Meyer's famous films.

It's probably an exclusively American tradition for a good movie to flop at the box office and only gain an army of loyal fans of all ages and preferences over the years. I'm not a fan, but I like this movie too.

And the rather prosaic plot doesn't spoil anything at all. Evil uncle wizard and dumb as a log guy Bob with completely unspoiled character and actions of a child. A crowd of mostly horny teenagers and an old movie theater that spins exclusively family movies. This is exactly the state in which things arrived before the aforementioned Elvira arrived.....

Enough of the small amount of pure thrash that always follows such movies. Behind the terrible character of the protagonist and summarizing the expected happy ending. This is not bad at all, if only because of the fact that every viewer expects it.

And knowing the biography of Cassandra Peterson herself I was generally surprised that it ended so easily and simply. Probably because of the fact that the movie in its time claimed to be a family movie, although it does not belong to this boring category of cinema at all.

Beautiful “Elvira: Mistress of the Dark” just has to bring at least a very small amount of sincere positivity into almost every life.
