The granddaughter of the famous Dr. Caligari conducts personal experiments on transplanting human organs in SDK - Caligari's madhouse. A terribly “contrived” film, full of grotesque and stylized to the point of incomprehensibility. Despite its sexual content, it is terribly annoying to some video buffs. Rarely anyone sees it through to the end. Before watching, I advise you to watch or at least read the synopsis of the film “Dr. Caligari's Closet” 1919.

User Review
It makes no sense to take seriously, much less to look for common sense in Stephen Saadian's stylistic twist inspired by a masterpiece of German Expressionism from the silent film era. This movie doesn't need audience love and doesn't claim to be an icon of “newspeak”. It is made on the principle of “should we not make a movie because we have money”. They did and thank goodness! “Dr. Caligari” is as inimitable, unique in its kind experiment, as, for example, ‘Liquid Sky’ Zuckerman or the works of John Waters. Whether it is worth its uniqueness is another question: there is no arguing about tastes.

The action takes place in the 'Cerebral-Rectal Establishment' (CIA), where Dr. Caligari is conducting libido transplant experiments. This is the only unusual plot detail. Otherwise, it's a scheme about an unscrupulous obsessive scientist whose methods run counter to conservative morality. It could be interpreted that way, but it doesn't matter: plot is the last thing on the agenda. It's the colors. In poisonous - gouache tones smeared with various colors on stupid dialogues and on the balaganistic play of actors drowning in the abyss of Freudian symbols.

The artist Saadian approached his first and only full-length art project as a painter spitting on everything that has nothing to do with painting. Actually, the reference to Vine's classic is conditional and has meaning only for the director, as his somnambulistic Cesare (here with an accent on the last syllable) was transferred from the silent film along with the image of Caligari, but already in a changed image, cast to the periphery. There is no original system of images. Only clichés. Only stamps. Conscious schemes. It is tiring. Having quickly mastered the offered psychedelic picture, you start to look for more, and there is nothing but a blended palette. So be it. All kinds of movies are important, all kinds of movies are necessary.
