The Rundown 4K 2003 Ultra HD 2160p
Beck is a specialist in seizures. For a reasonable fee, he can seize an old debt, a necessary item, or even a whole person. Beck works for a mafia boss, but he is obsessed with the idea of quitting and opening his own restaurant. To do this, he needs to complete one last job: go to the Amazon jungle and collect a certain Travis, the boss's wayward son. Standing in his way is Hatcher, the owner of a gold mine, a sadistic maniac, and essentially a slave owner. Hatcher needs El Gato de Diablo, an ancient golden idol whose location is known to Travis. The idol is also needed by local rebels, who believe it will help them win their freedom. All of this together poses a big problem, and Beck doesn't need problems...
User Review
It's worth starting with the fact that, as a wrestling fan, I had long been familiar with Dwayne Johnson from his performances in WWF/WWE. With his charisma, he could steal the hearts of many in the ring, but his film career was a little more difficult for him. The Mummy and The Scorpion King are, unfortunately, not projects that Dwayne Johnson can be 100% proud of. It's hard to believe, because now we look forward to his films and know that we will get excellent acting and a brutal, charismatic, and charming actor.
But when it comes to The Rundown, we can say that this is where Dwayne Johnson began his journey to becoming the actor he is today. Less captivating than in his later films, but already attracting attention even then.
The plot is as simple as can be, but at the same time easy to follow. You don't have to think too hard, everything is as simple as possible, but is that a bad thing? Watching it again in 2019, I caught myself thinking, “Yes, the film rushes by in one breath” and doesn't drag. The main characters are revealed as much as necessary, and the chemistry between Dwayne Johnson and Sean William Scott is perfect.
As for the acting, I can honestly say that everything is done well. Not perfectly, since the secondary characters are not really memorable, but that's not necessary in this film. The main characters, however, act very well. But for me, the highlight of the film was the main villain, played by Christopher Walken, who stole every scene. I should note that I rewatched the original and got such a kick out of the main villain! For me, the villain is always 50% of a film's success, and here, in terms of the charisma of the main characters, the film scored 100%.
The appropriate humor and staging of the action scenes are also worth mentioning. Everything is done with quality and taste.
For anyone who hasn't seen it, I recommend watching it, especially in the original.
