After the success of the first part and gaining many fans, the director of the original sold the rights to the film, and at the end of the 80s, two sequels were released. Another film was planned, but it never saw the light of day. I can't say anything about the third part, but the second part turned out to be a great slasher film both for its time and for our time.
The plot is quite simple: Angela, who was responsible for the deaths of several people in the first part, arrives at a regular summer camp. We are introduced to the events of the first part in the prologue scene as a scary story told around the campfire. The acting is quite good, which is rare for slasher films of the late 80s, which are generally disliked, supposedly because by the end of the decade the genre had become repetitive, but personally I don't think so. Many later slasher films are much better than the early ones thanks to humor, as here, or more inventive murders, as again here. In terms of nudity, the sequel surpassed the original many times over. I don't know if that's a plus or not, but the actresses who undress are beautiful, and the scenes add fun and spark to the film. The suspense that was present in the first part has left the creators, but it certainly cannot be said that the film has become worse because of this. There are many murders, they are well staged, there is nothing to complain about, and there are also some great quotes:
-What are you looking for, a gun?
-No, a drill.
Throughout the entire film, there is a lot of black humor and beautiful forest scenery, which is also a plus. And by the way, replacing the actress in the lead role was beneficial for the film, as Angela becomes a more lively and interesting character, unlike in the first part.
Conclusion: an excellent sequel to the wonderful slasher film from the 80s. You could say it's a classic of the genre. In essence, this is what a slasher film should look like today: bloody, spectacular, and sometimes funny. What else do you need for a good evening? And by the way, this is the only film made in the wake of Friday the 13th's success that got a sequel, and not just one.
