A landmark film of the 1960s. Hoffman's first major role. He plays a naive and honest college graduate who is seduced by Mrs. Robinson, a middle-aged woman and friend of his parents. But he truly falls in love with her daughter, and the enraged mother does everything she can to destroy their love.

A rather unusual but very enjoyable film.
I am immensely glad that I had the opportunity to see the first big-screen work of Dustin Hoffman, whom I deeply respect.
A splendid debut in an excellent film!

What is so good about The Graduate?
I will highlight the main points, but to get a complete picture of the film, you simply have to find it and watch it.

First, it is a stylish, Oscar-winning production by Mike Nichols, with many original cinematographic techniques. The film looks very modern, and if it weren't for the young Hoffman and various attributes (cars, clothes) of that time, I would never have guessed that the film is 40 (!) years old.

Second, it's the acting trio: first Hoffman and Bancroft, then Hoffman and Ross. The Rain Man is quite convincing as a 21-year-old (despite being 30 at the time of filming). The ladies complement him perfectly.

Thirdly, there is the musical accompaniment by Simon and Garfunkel, which is familiar to everyone except the very young or aliens. It is difficult not to feel anything when you hear a line from the song (quoted in the title of my review) while watching the film.

And then there's the rare but apt humor in The Graduate...
And the magnificent ending!
