“Go” is, first and foremost, an entertaining movie. There’s no need to look for a deep moral, some lofty idea, or anything of the sort—the film doesn’t have any of that, nor does it need to.

Essentially, it’s not one movie, but three, subtly intertwined and converging at a single point. At times, you find yourself rooting for the characters; at others, you can relax and watch their antics. It’s reminiscent of “11:14,” but it doesn’t quite measure up—it’s not as gripping, not as spectacular, and not as uncompromising. At times it reminds me of “Pulp Fiction” and at other times of “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.” It’s not as gritty as the former, not as wild as the latter—it’s something in between but stands on its own.

The film isn’t just about drugs, as the title and some reviews might suggest. Of course, there’s no shortage of car chases, but aside from those, there are also the four friends’ wild adventures in Vegas, and other things… I liked the subtle irony when situations similar to those in other movies arise, and you start to predict the plot based on those movies, but in reality, everything turns out to be much simpler and more harmless.

I didn’t see any particular glorification of drugs, nor did I see anything to the contrary. After all, movies aren’t a guide to life, but a form of entertainment—at least, that’s exactly what this movie is. If you want to watch a heavy drama about drugs, watch “Requiem for a Dream.”

The plot is well-crafted and keeps you guessing until the very end about how it will all turn out. The ending, however, isn’t quite fitting for the film’s theme—it’s far too lighthearted and happy. Although as the film unfolds, it seems to balance between comedy and drama quite successfully, so you could have expected any kind of ending.
