Jackie Brown works as a flight attendant and moonlights smuggling cash into the country for an arms dealer. Everything is going great until she gets caught up in a half-million dollar scam and is arrested by federal agents. The only way she can stay free is to “pawn” the dealer. I was interested in this movie solely because of the famous director, I hoped that it would be a powerful picture, like other works of Tarantino, but as it turned out, no.

The plot itself is not repulsive, it in its own way, in Tarantino's way, attracts the viewer, but this plot lacked drive, it is slow and has a lot of unnecessary shots and boring scenes. Even the dialogs in this movie are not as polished as they should have been. Maybe I didn't understand the making of the movie itself, I didn't read about the problems during filming, but it still ended up being a pretty raw product, and with the one at the helm, it can be called a mild failure. The basis of this movie - dialogs, but in some places they are just boring and unnecessary, a lot of phrases could be removed, the picture would not have become worse. In some phrases there are clever thoughts, but they do not save the whole situation.

In other aspects the movie is not bad, but not good either. The characters are faded and don't stand out, except for De Niro. Despite the dangerous situations for the characters, they are not very interesting to watch. The music and cameraman are also unremarkable, in general the director's approach and style is not noticeable.

If you don't read that the director is Tarantino, it's a simple crime drama in a near-Mexican atmosphere, without any cool plot twists or memorable scenes. Watched it and watched it. Not very nice words, but you could call this the worst Tarantino movie of his career, the worst of the best. It's the worst of his career, but in fact it's an average movie with high caliber actors on board. Watch purely for the 'watch all Tarantino movies' checkbox.
