User Review
I have always liked horror stories compiled in anthologies, similar to Tales from the Crypt. That's why I watched Death in the Night very carefully, and not in vain.
The film turned out to be very rich. There are no traditional three stories here. There will be many more stories. Moreover, each of them will have a different running time. After all, these are stories told by the inhabitants of a large house.
It all starts with the theme of fatalism. Strange things happen to a man—the coachman driving the hearse invites him to his place. And all this is not without reason.
Another story will seem like a pleasant diversion. It will tell of a meeting between one child and another. There is one small detail: one of the children is a ghost. It will be filmed with the same intensity as Kubrick's The Shining. Most importantly, it will be much more concise.
More attention will be paid to the story about the mirror through which a spirit enters the hero and demands that he kill his wife. Here we see a completely different, “maniac” style in the paradigm of Mario Bava and Alfred Hitchcock.
By the way, the ending of the film will be just perfect—it will have mysticism, a “maniac” theme, and very real things.
Of course, the story about the ventriloquist doll will also be memorable. It's nice that the directors leave it up to the viewer to decide all the nuances of this story. All that remains to be said is that the story is quite similar to Attenborough's film The Magic with Anthony Hopkins. But, note that in the anthology, this sinister story is much more watchable due to its conciseness.
