End of Days 4K 1999 Ultra HD 2160p
Her birth was predicted in the writings of hermit monks. Her mission is terrible: she is destined to become the mother of the Antichrist. The girl was born, and the Prince of Darkness broke free, taking possession of the body of a respectable businessman. The prophecy came true. Will Arnold Schwarzenegger's character, a cop who fears neither God nor the devil, be able to prevent the onset of an era of evil?

I first saw this film when I was 10 years old on a medium-quality VHS tape, but even that didn't stop me from loving it. Nine years have passed, and now I've seen it again, of course in good quality and with good sound, and I can say right away that my expectations have hardly changed since then. There are some things about the movie that I didn't notice before, but it's still a fun watch.
The plot tells the story of how, at the dawn of the new millennium, the devil (Gabriel Byrne) or Satan (whichever you prefer!) comes to our world and wants to bring about Armageddon on Earth. To do this, he needs a chosen girl who will bear his child, into whom he will incarnate to rule the Earth (it's a bit confusing). A retired cop and bodyguard, Jericho (Arnold Schwarzenegger), must stop him... so basically, we're in for some mystery and action! It looks pretty good, but it reminds me of Bay's movie Armageddon. Both films feature a force that can destroy the world (here the emphasis is on religion, and there on science), a hero who sacrifices himself (Bruce vs. Arnie!!), and salvation in both cases... although there are many similar plots in American cinema, these two are mirror images of each other.
The actors did a great job. Arnie was in his element, even though he was no longer young at the time, and Byrne did a superb job with this role. I remember him well for his role in the film Stigmata, where he played a priest. In this film, I saw the opposite of that Byrne, and it's so true to life that it's hard to believe this man could play a priest?!?!
In conclusion, I will say that the film is a little outdated for our time, but it still keeps you in suspense until the very end, so I recommend buying it on DVD for your collection. Then make some popcorn at home and enjoy watching The End of the World in the evening. I, for one, will do just that.
