I first watched the 1994 film *Interview with the Vampire* when I was a child, and at the time it even scared me a little. As an adult, the idea to rewatch this movie came to me after I found out that a TV series of the same name was released in 2022 (it seems like there’s been a trend over the last 5–7 years to remake and reboot everything). But the series didn’t grab me—in fact, it was rather disappointing—so I decided to go back to the classic. And what can I say? Well, the movie has aged very well and still looks stunning even 30 years later: the costumes, the sets, the actors themselves (whatever anyone says, Tom Cruise did a very good job playing the charismatic vampire villain Lestat. And Brad Pitt did a great job portraying the melancholic vampire Lestat, who strives to preserve his humanity). Yes, the film’s plot differs somewhat from its literary source material (the film was based on the famous book from the *Vampire Chronicles* series by author Anne Rice), but one can make allowances for the censorship of that era and the film’s runtime constraints. Compared to the recent TV series, the 1994 film feels like a more cohesive and complete work. It doesn’t try to keep up with contemporary trends but simply tells its story, leaving behind pleasant memories.

In addition, the film effectively portrays the dramatic aspects of the characters’ stories. For example, Lestat, who suffers from his vampire nature due to the necessity of killing people and strives to preserve his humanity. He asks himself: “Is it possible to live without killing people?” and “What is the meaning of his vampire life?” Or Claudia—a vampire girl who dreams of growing up but is doomed to remain a child forever. And even Lestat, who is the only one of the three main characters to appear content with his vampire life, turns out to be a very lonely figure.

The 1994 film *Interview with the Vampire* is not just a movie about bloodsuckers, but a philosophical parable about life, death, and immortality. The film has stood the test of time beautifully and remains one of the finest examples of vampire cinema. It proves that quality cinema never goes out of style and is capable of transcending the boundaries of time. I think this film will appeal to those who appreciate an engaging dramatic story and beautiful visuals (because, whatever anyone says, a young Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt add charm to any movie). The film doesn’t just tell a story about vampires—it makes you think about what it means to be human, even when you’re no longer one.
