A well-made horror movie, filling all 80 minutes gradually with its rising tension. The first installment in a potential upcoming trilogy, 'The Night Chronicles' or as I like to call them 'The Knight Chronicles' (referring to M. Night Shyamalan). We are waiting for three different movies with different plots, which, apparently, will be united by some common line.
The plot of this movie is nothing new, and in general, putting your hand on your heart we can say that 'somewhere' we have already seen it. When a few not the most ordinary people are locked up with each other for a long time and under the pressure of extreme circumstances begin to commit all sorts of horrors with each other. Here the picture is fragmentary though different, but in general it is similar to the spirit movies a la Saw. Yes, there is mysticism here, but the radical difference lies in the very final picture, from other pictures of similar plot similarity.
Here we still at the very beginning of the movie lay the idea of forgiveness, in fact, the idea of constant struggle in the gut between his dark half and light. They lay the idea that man is not so terrible in its essence, yes, we have enough shit in us, but what the hell that there is nothing good in us?! It's silly to look at humanity from the perspective of evil alone.
Now it's fashionable to watch soap operas about doctors and get cynicism from them. Watch horror epics with 'unpredictably'-terrible endings, where some John Kramer again deceived and killed everyone at the end. And more and more believing that before evil and animal nature we have no chance, and as if it always wins, people are like animals and that's it.
But the position of this movie hints to the viewer that the good and positive qualities of man in horror movies also win and even in those that have the name 'Devil'.
