Jack Dilroy (David Dastmalchian) was once a successful television host. Not major league, but almost. The star's rise to stardom was interrupted by the untimely death of his wife Madeline (Georgina Haig). Jack never recovered from the loss, the fire in his eyes disappeared, and with it the ratings. In pursuit of restoring the popularity of Dilroy's evening show, the producers made the program more and more provocative. The final point in the game on the lower feelings of the viewer was the invitation on Halloween Eve Lilly Diabo (Ingrid Torelli) - the only survivor of the recent mass suicide on satanic grounds. Neither herself nor the paranormal researcher (Laura Gordon) observing her could confidently say whether or not she was possessed by the devil prior to the broadcast. But after the recording of the fateful broadcast, no one had any doubts.

Against the backdrop of a shortage of creative horror films, every now and then there are movies that starved audiences pinned their hopes on. Often, these movies are then given high marks due to some kind of inertia.
'Late Night with the Devil' could have been a spectacular short film - perfectly detailed retro stylistics, dramatic story of the main character, creepy psychic girl. The problem is that there is very little horror as such in the movie, and the vast majority of the time we are invited to simply watch a sluggish TV show where people make jokes, swear backstage, make up participants and do all the things that can be taken for creating the right atmosphere.
The problems start when the anticipation of the horror doesn't live up to the hype, and the atmosphere itself doesn't draw out the pallor of 'evil'. The whole movie has a scary climax, but the climax doesn't look as elaborate as the retro hairstyles of the characters.
The least successful moment is the turn of the genre into the area of some kind of psychedelics and the bold question mark at the end: the viewer is invited to think for himself what he was watching - a horror movie about obsession or sketches from the life of a schizophrenic. But such a twist looks rather helpless - the viewer was marinated the whole movie in expectation of something that they themselves could not really define.
In summary, I would say that the movie was cute in form, but not particularly scary or original. There's a sense of unfinished and underthought. It seems that all the creators' creativity went into the stylistics and atmosphere.
