Everything is going well and it seemed that life was successful, until a nasty gypsy Mrs. Ganush appeared at the bank with a request to defer the mortgage loan. Now the old woman must be evicted from the house, but the grandmother turned out to be a real witch and put a curse on the careerist, and now Christine's life becomes a nightmare. If no action is taken, in three days the employee will go straight to hell.

The best part about “Drag Me to Hell” is that this broadside is just a warm-up for Sam Raimi 's promised remake of his own “Evil Dead.” Ever since Raimi made his trilogy of comedy-horror films and switched to “Spider-Man”, it turned out that no one knows how to make you laugh and scare at the same time.
So - we wait, and in the meantime laugh and fear for Christine (Alison Lohman), a bank loan officer who is having a tough time. She's looking forward to a promotion, but her lamprey-like, glasses-wearing boss won't say yes or no. A meeting is coming up with her boyfriend's parents, rich snobs who think a farm girl is no match for their son. And when a nasty old woman comes to her and starts begging for an extension on her payments, Christine decides to say no. She's a sweet girl with a good heart, but it's every man for himself, right? It's a pity, of course, that her grandmother's house will be taken away... And how sorry Christine will be when the old woman puts a gypsy curse on her! The terrible lamia now follows the girl and on the third day should drag her to hell.
As a matter of fact, the scene with the terrified white goat (literally, alive) yelling at the heroine in a human voice “You tricked me, bitch!!!” was enough to make the movie happen. Or a fight with a witch in which the main weapon is a stapler. Or the heavy pounding of hooves, with which the devil's spawn ascends the wooden stairs - the most vile and frightening sound imaginable.
But Sam Raimi's sense of humor is far more sarcastic than a simple parody of the usual hijinks of horror. And more generous than a simple gift to the American homeowners who are losing their real estate today, on whose behalf he has inflicted his malicious witch on the bankers. What's most comical and hellish about what's going on is the sympathetic world of the office girl. In essence, “Drag Me to Hell” is a scary office tale, a genre akin to pioneer horror stories, something about a black-black fax machine or a client who turned out not to be a normal gangster or an honest middle class in sandals over socks, but that-who-can-not-be-named.Once upon a time there was a girl, giving out loans, and one day an old gypsy woman came to her office....
Self-forgetful joyful laughter, with which the audience welcomes the false jaws flying out of the old woman's mouth, a sneaky fly, which mocks Christine in the most piggish way and many more nightmarish and comic things, which Raimi stuffed his movie - a fair reward for all comers.
And a good mood for the rest of the day. Because there's a lot of recognition in that laughter, and without the witch and the lamia, the whole thing would be just as funny and scary. Just a little less authentic.
