April 2020. The country sits down en masse to self-isolate due to the spread of a coronavirus epidemic. Student Parker in the company of her best friend Miri goes to spend quarantine in the family house by the lake. Girls relax and do not even think that someone is already watching them.

The director of this tape John Hyams made a very not bad movie. It is worth noting that if initially the movie gave the impression of another youth slasher about another bloodthirsty killer and his victims in the person of a group of teenagers, then after the introduction the movie ceases to be such. Much more creating an impression of some kind of a thriller. Including explaining it by the fact that as such murders in this tape is very little and the main emphasis is on the attempts of the main characters to squeeze out and resist the killer. Demonstrating on the screen surprisingly brutal “action” scenes, torn editing and dynamic shooting. But you have to wait for 30-40 minutes. Because after the brutal introduction, the director of the film John Hyams suddenly hits the brakes and starts to revive the movie after half of its timing.

Kevin Williamson has long been renowned as one of the pioneers of the slasher genre, who almost always manages, if not to reassemble the genre, then to breathe a breath of fresh air into it, and in this respect “Sick” was no exception to the rule. At first glance, we have the basic elements of a regular slasher. However, in this case (as with the directing) the focus is heavily shifted away from the number of killers and the mystery surrounding the identity of the killer towards a cat and mouse game between prey and hunter. Not least interestingly played up in the context of the quarantine due to the coronavirus epidemic. Could much more have been squeezed out of this idea? Definitely. But it also turned out to be quite entertaining.

The obvious weak element of this tape is the performer of the main role of Gideon Adlon. Similar to her younger sister Odessa, who has already ruined the recent reboot of “Hellraiser” with her performance, Gideon also demonstrates an extremely lazy and unexpressive game. The rest of the actors made a much more pleasant impression and in their images looked much more interesting and convincing.
