The Man with the Iron Heart 4K 2017 Ultra HD 2160p
In 1931, Reinhard Heydrich (Jason Clarke), a lieutenant in the German Navy's intelligence service, is dismissed for “unbecoming conduct” toward the daughter of an influential businessman. Immediately afterwards, Heydrich joins the NSDAP and the SS and soon becomes one of Hitler's most notorious and ruthless followers. He heads the security police, exterminates enemies of the regime, opens concentration camps, actively participates in the raging Second World War, and plans the Holocaust. In 1941, Heydrich became the highest-ranking Nazi official in occupied Czechoslovakia. In response, the Czechoslovak “government in exile” and British intelligence services plotted to assassinate Heydrich. The task of destroying the Nazi is entrusted to Prague underground fighters and agents trained in Britain, Josef Gabčík (Jack Reynor) and Jan Kubiš (Jack O'Connell).

You know, movies always leave some kind of impression, whether positive or negative. There is always something to discuss or talk about after watching them. It's easy to single out the work of the team that made the film in a positive or negative light. But this is not the case at all.
I chose the “negative” review type because I simply regret the time wasted. Does the film reveal anything about such an odious figure of the Third Reich as Reinhard Heydrich? Absolutely not. A small remark can be made that Heydrich was indeed very powerful from a negative point of view in the Third Reich. He was not just an executor like Eichmann. Nor was he as exalted as Himmler, who may not have been aware of the realities of what was happening due to the overall scale and abstraction of the internal party struggle. He was a man who, having received a vector of activity, independently and meticulously developed, refined, and implemented it.
As everything that happened stretched out over two hours, I simply cannot understand; the film reveals neither the personal characteristics of the man nor the direction of his activities, not at all. Here he is in the navy, here he is in the SS internal security, and here he is already the protector of Bohemia and Moravia. That's it. What, how, and why are not clear. It is impossible to discuss the actors' performances here at all, as the authors of this work did not even attempt to give them any personality. They are all simply bland. Even the Einsatzgruppen created by Heydrich are not identified in any way, but they are mentioned as part of the SS. In other words, after watching the film, we will once again conclude that the Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler division, the Einsatzgruppen, and the concentration camp guards, as part of the SS, were only involved in the mass genocide of the civilian population and nothing else. What a mess this film is.
Maybe the film is about the guys who killed Heydrich after all? Again, no. They are even more insignificant than Reinhard. Because almost half of the film is devoted to the “resistance,” again without any disclosure of the essence of the events. But about the same amount of time is devoted to seven good guys throughout the entire half. In conversations with each other about everything, movements, semi-romantic scenes, and family matters. In general, here's the bad guy, here are the good guys, without any explanation of the reasons. Well, everyone knows the history of World War II, so why explain anything to anyone? To be honest, the first appearance of Jan Kubiš and Jozef Gabčík in the film shows them in British uniform. After that, England is mentioned a couple of times as their place of deployment, but in the end, a camp in Scotland is shown. Much is unclear. Firstly, why wasn't England referred to as Britain, given that they were in Scotland? Secondly, what did the gentlemen want by sending these brave young men into German-occupied territory? Because suddenly, towards the end of the film, the main characters discuss a new order - to kill Heydrich, in the context of ‘and then everyone around will be in very, very bad shape’. There is no point in discussing the acting here, as there is none to speak of. It is unclear who the characters are, who they were before, and what they want.
The whole film is like the story of one person's life in ‘here I was born, here I pee, here I sit at work, here I pee again, here I drive, and here I die’ mode. I pee twice, conclusion - I was a wimp. That's it. Applause. Very fast-paced and ridiculous for two hours. I'll give it a 3 out of 10 just for the fact that they filmed it.
