The Mirror Crack'd 4K 1980 Ultra HD 2160p
The action of this detective story, based on Agatha Christie's novel, takes place on the set of a historical film in a quiet English town with neat gardens and tea parties. The film features the most brilliant stars of Hollywood. Constant intrigue, the desire to frame others, outmaneuver rivals, and get the lead role at any cost—ultimately, a dead body is discovered on the set. As in all Agatha Christie's works, everyone has a motive for murder, and anyone, including the killer, could be the next victim.
User Review
It is commonly believed that writer Agatha Christie drew inspiration for her novel The Mirror Crack'd from a real-life incident. However, this is only half true. During her pregnancy, 1940s Hollywood movie star Jean Tierney contracted rubella.
In 1943, the actress gave birth to a daughter, but due to her mother's illness, the daughter was born deaf, blind, and with very serious mental retardation.
A couple of years later, the actress talks to a woman who, without knowing it, tells her about their acquaintance during the war and that she was sick with rubella at the time.
It is not difficult to guess that she infected Tierney during the war, although she herself did not even suspect it.
Agatha Christie saw the detective potential in this story and decided to turn it into a novel. The novel, as in the sequel, and the film use the same plot. Although Tirney herself did not take revenge on the woman who deprived her of the opportunity to be happy, unlike the plot of the book or film.
I won't reveal the plot—it's better to see this film than to read about it. The actors are superbly cast. Angela Lansbury creates an interesting image of Miss Marple. She plays well, but is still lost against the backdrop of the other stars.
Elizabeth Taylor, who had already starred with Lansbury in the 1940s, gives a very vivid performance, creating the image of either an offended virtuous woman or simply an unhappy woman. The role was originally offered to Natalie Wood, but she turned it down.
Kim Novak, in the role of Taylor's rival, seems to me to outshine everyone else in this film - perhaps that is why her screen time is not so great.
“You know the saying: once an actress, always an actress!” “I know that saying, but what does it have to do with you?”
Or:
- Have you seen his latest film? If I ate a piece of film, I'd have the best film coming out of my ass! Rock Hudson as Taylor's husband and Tony Curtis as Novak's husband also fit into the film, although their performances are inferior to those of the female characters.
Overall, it is not an indisputable, but still a good adaptation of Agatha Christie's detective story, which will appeal even to modern viewers with its interesting plot and magnificent star-studded cast.
