While watching, my rating fluctuated from one point to eight. The actors are good, but it is clear that they are bored and, in some places, simply uncomfortable in their childish heroic roles. Therefore, they desperately overact, which basically works for children of “elementary and middle school age,” for whom the film is intended. Liam Neeson looks best in a small role, which is quite natural - he is actually the only one from the entire film crew who later made a career in big cinema.

Another downside is the extremely cheap special effects, which are comparable to Soviet blockbusters for children, such as Finista, the Bright Falcon or The Purple Ball. The sets are also very cardboard-like. It is surprising that the film cost USD 27,000,000 to make. In 1983, it was still possible to surprise viewers with that kind of money. But in Krull, at first glance, only four million dollars were spent.

Watch the cheaper Conan the Barbarian and compare. The difference is enormous and not at all to Krull's advantage.

But there are also positives. Beautiful location shooting, a fantasy atmosphere, and a positive mood are all assets of the film.

Conclusion: if you are an adult fantasy fan, this naive and inexpensive film will most likely disappoint you. If you have a child aged 6-10, show them Krull.
