I generally don’t like detective movies. Most of the time, it’s because they’re shallow and predictable. I only decided to watch this one because Lambert plays the lead. In my opinion, he’s an underrated actor. Back when he starred in *Highlander*, he became known primarily for that role—and that’s a shame. In my opinion, the producers could have found him something more interesting to play. He played Raiden in *Mortal Kombat* superbly, for example—a cynical and humorous god.
But let’s get back to *The Judgment*. It’s a great movie. Those who love action and special effects won’t appreciate it, of course, but for those who know a thing or two about acting and screenwriting—it’s just the ticket. Lambert is surprisingly well-suited to the lead role. I can’t even imagine anyone else in it. He’s just the right mix of hero and underdog—smart but not overly so—in short, just right. The rest of the cast is picture-perfect. The director clearly had a feel for the era he was filming. Even what might seem like exaggerations to us are actually true to that time.
I’ve watched the movie more than once and will gladly watch it again. Not long ago, I learned that the events depicted in this film have a real historical basis. I was surprised. I read the description—it’s horrifying, even worse than in the movie.
