Longtime friends and their girlfriends set off on a road trip, which is supposed to be their last bit of fun before they are sent to serve in Vietnam. On the way, they get into an accident, and a local sheriff appears, whose acquaintance marks the beginning of a real nightmare: they find themselves in a gloomy house, within whose walls a ruthless killer nicknamed Leatherface is being raised.

So, we decided to enlighten ourselves as to how exactly this abnormal family, which fed on human flesh, went mad. From the very beginning of the film, we are immersed in a chilling atmosphere of genuine horror. The horrific scenes of inhuman treatment of “Leatherface” are simply shocking. The family took in a boy suffering from a congenital skin disease and instilled completely abnormal ideas in him, completely shattering the child's already disturbed psyche.

After that, it is not surprising that he became a beaten and embittered creature, and on top of that, prone to sadistic tendencies. The family used the “foster child” for their own purposes, instilling in him an increasing dislike for the world and people. Watching this film, I felt sorry for “Leatherface.” But the rest of the family simply amazed me. They made up God knows what for themselves, and now they blame the whole world and eat human flesh out of hunger. They just needed to move!

We found out the main reason that drove the despots to commit terrible crimes: the closure of the slaughterhouse, which meant a lack of work and food. How awful! There was a scene where the “Sheriff” and the rest of the family sat down at the table, and the ‘Sheriff’ asked what the food was, and his wife said, “Say grace before you eat.” I was so taken aback by such sadism.

Next, we are shown a cheerful group: two girlfriends (Brewster and Beard) and two brothers who were destined to go to war (Bomer and Handley). This group was traveling through Texas to Vietnam and, as everyone already knows, ended up in the same predicament as the heroes of the next “Chainsaw” films.

In this film, we are shown the true hopelessness of the characters' situation, with no one to turn to for help. The terrifying atmosphere of the original and the remake has been conveyed to us (because, in my opinion, it was in those films that the real horror and suspense were found, while the other parts are more like a parody).

A magnificent beginning to the most terrifying crimes. As for the acting, I can say that it is excellent. The emotions are portrayed so naturally: pain, suffering. Er Lee Ermi (Sheriff Hoyt) is an excellent actor with a lot of experience, he played his role with flying colors! Jordan Brewster deserves a deep bow. I am also glad that the film did not show young people in a bad light or in a vulgar way, but, on the contrary, showed the tender, delicate relationship between lovers, which was pleasant to watch. The film also did not have any stupid, meaningless dialogues.

The scenes of violence are striking in their cruelty and cold-bloodedness, just like in Hostel, but here they are shown in a different way, so that you empathize with the characters. There is a saying: “A good movie makes you empathize with the characters. An excellent movie makes you empathize with yourself.” The film is very interesting, the script is excellent, the atmosphere is tense until the end, and there is a presence of dark colors. The creators did a great job and took their work seriously!
