The adventures of the New York animals in the wild continue. Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe, and Gloria the hippo try to fly home to New York on a plane piloted by penguins. The group crashes in Africa, where Alex finds his family. However, after so many years living in New York, he can’t seem to find common ground with his African relatives.

This animated film was one of the most anticipated projects of this fall, and, in my opinion, it lived up to expectations.

First of all, the graphics are stunning. Hats off to the creators for bringing the beauty of Africa to life so vividly—the scenery is mesmerizing. The animals are far from faceless; each one has a distinct personality.

Second, the plot is interesting: in this installment, we no longer see Alex’s “suffering” over how bad everything is and how there are absolutely no good conditions.

Here, we see a clear interweaving of the plot with that of *The Lion King*. For this alone, I’m ready to say a huge thank you to the creators. It stirred up nostalgia for intelligent, thought-provoking ideas. Plus, there’s both tragedy and the philosophy that each of us is beautiful (if someone isn’t like others, that doesn’t mean they’re bad!).

And third, the creators deserve thanks for the fact that this installment features the same sense of humor as the first one.

And the main strength of this animated film is that it allows viewers to simply relax while watching it.
