Choose Me 4K 1984 Ultra HD 2160p
An eccentric, occasionally erotic, and generally clever comedy. An advocate of free love, a bar owner (Warren) settles her problems with the help of a sex therapist (Bugeaud) who hosts a radio program. The latter readily offers advice on other people's affairs of the heart, but her own libido is suppressed. A sexy but geeky man with no defined occupation (Carradine) hits on both of them and changes their lives. An original, dream-like meditation on sexual urges.

Film director Alan Rudolph has two 'favorites': American actor Keith Carradine and Canadian actress Genevieve Bugeaud. In whatever relationship no matter what the heroes of the next movie, between the actors there is always a magic of deep understanding. It is based on the amazing synchronicity of the actors' dаta: a weighty slowness in gestures, absolute similarity in facial expressions and, most importantly, in the timbre of the voice. What one actor says, does, immediately picks up the second. The relationship of their characters can be both in plus and minus (it keeps the plot), and the inner magnetism fills the frame and supports the 'habitat' of the other characters (it attracts the audience).
The complex love polyhedron that Alan Rudolph has constructed in 'Choose Me' requires just such acting synchronicity. She, like the nucleus of an atom, does not let the free heroes-'electrons' fly apart. The six main characters love, are jealous, desire someone, but the object of their feelings is constantly slipping away, he is also in active search. And no seals and official ties quench this thirst for the new. The secondary characters are also looking for love: the trajectories of their searches emphasize (and in some cases - override) the soul-searching of the protagonists....
This complex interweaving of plot lines is somewhat reminiscent of schizophrenic delirium. And this is directly reflected in the personal stories of the characters. The protagonist of the movie is a patient who left the asylum; and the woman who said YES to his proposal to be together is a sexual therapist. She hosts a radio show under the pseudonym Nancy Love, dispensing detailed advice to others without having a personal life of her own.
All the YES's and NO's said by the characters are momentary. There is not a single firm decision, not a single logically sound choice. Before us is the triumph of Eros as such. The heroes talk a lot, reason a lot. And the naughty Cupid scatters his arrows in a chaotic order. No one knows where the next “arrow” will hit and what kind of fire of feelings it will ignite.
In 1984 at the Toronto International Film Festival Alan Rudolph received the International Critics Award. His ability to playfully illuminate the existential side of love with satirical details and images is unrivaled.
