My opinion of the movie is unlikely to come as a surprise to anyone. It’s possible that my words will cause some discontent or be seen as trite. Nevertheless, I’d like to share my impressions of watching this film.

In the story, Martians invade Earth. These cold-blooded and cruel creatures, resembling little green men, arrive on Earth in their ships and rapidly spread chaos across the entire planet. American cities, including Washington and Las Vegas, fall victim to their devastating attacks. The U.S. president demands decisive action from the military, but the generals are divided: General Decker is eager to completely destroy the enemy and send them back to Mars, while General Casey favors peace negotiations.

At the time, the film received a mixed reception from both critics and audiences. While critics showered the film with negative reviews and ordinary moviegoers failed to appreciate it, true fans of Burton’s work embraced it with enthusiasm—which is hardly surprising. Such a reaction is quite natural and even welcome.

The secret to the success of *Mars Attacks!* lies in its laid-back atmosphere of unbridled fun and its unique satirical take on the science fiction genre. The director, as if wanting to have some fun and poke fun at stereotypes, created a film that captivates with its originality and style from the very first glance.

The film boasts a brilliant cast, each taking on roles that are unusual for them. Glenn Close appears with voluminous curls, Martin Short picks up girls on the street, and viewers get to see two Jack Nicholsons at once. Sarah Jessica Parker adds to the film with her vibrant character, while Pam Grier surprises audiences in the role of a bus driver.

Burton’s Martians deserve special attention—original and memorable creatures with brain-shaped heads. Their appearance is sure to spark a storm of excitement, and their line, “We’ve come in peace!” sounds particularly ironic given their aggressive actions.

*Mars Attacks!* can be seen as an ode to wild imagination, where the director—having taken a break after one of his best films, *Ed Wood*—allows himself to have some heartfelt fun and experiment with the genre. The film is full of absurd situations and humor, and its characters are vivid and memorable. Despite its outdated computer graphics, the film remains relevant thanks to its unique atmosphere and unconventional approach to the science fiction genre.

‘Mars Attacks!’ is not just a movie, but a true gift for anyone who appreciates Tim Burton’s creativity and his ability to create unique worlds.
