So in one Canadian woods there were some great-aged husbands and similarly aged ladies on vacation. All of them were far over thirty, but the desire to drink and fool around in nature had not weathered away. And here, having got drunk on hot drinks, and smoked medicinal marijuana, vacationers begin to tell stories.
Or rather, there is only one story in these parts: About a mad walker in a fire mask, that for many years went wild in the wilderness, and succeeded in multiplying all kinds of tourists to zero, using a variety of tools from the arsenal of Canadian loggers. The vacationers laughed, but scattered in the forest to walk, alcohol and substances have ruined their cause-and-effect relationships, - because the day before, by a typical American blunder, our heroes of this very Canadian Voorhees accidentally reanimated.
What social networks mistakenly gave out for the trailer of the new Collector turned out to be not a bad slasher in the best traditions of Crystal Lake. Definitely the creators drew their inspiration from the incorruptible adventures of Jason Voorhees. Methodology, concept and sequence copy any of the parts of Friday the 13th as much as possible. Except instead of a grotesque hockey player's mask, we have a pre-revolutionary firefighter's helmet.
But-oh-oh, the movie is surprisingly fresh and consistent. The director subtly captures atmospheric moments through impeccable camerawork, the concept of the murders is built on following the maniac step-by-step, and encompassing gorgeous panoramas of the green forest. And the noise! You won't hear it, except for the sounds of tearing flesh and guts falling to the ground. Obviously, the director intentionally left his “first-born” without the original soundtrack, replacing it with the pristine noises of the forest in real time. And the rest of the timing was given to the maniac as a springboard for bloody realization of himself.
Our killer is not bored. Why? It's his forest. He walks decently in the grounds, and with particular cruelty massacres all who reflect in the filters of the fire mask. On the violence side, a solid “A. It is brutal, brutal, devoid of any hint of mercy, and here the concept of the silence of the forest and the silent nature of the killer do their job: Each death is a brutal naturalistic act of reprisal. It's been a while since I've seen a slasher do its thing, like a breath of fresh air for the viewer-worshiper. Bonus is the fact of full disclosure of the history of the maniac, and therefore the logic of things is somehow immediately thrown out into the cold. And it is not wise, the authors deliberately shift the emphasis on the animal nature of the creature from the forests, which simply has no human beginning, but only a thirst for murder mixed with trauma.
I hope that even if the idea of a sequel comes into the minds of the creators, it will be no worse, although in my opinion In violent nature has the concept of a fully told story, where the sequel is needed only for commercial tradition.
