The movie begins with the murder of a crime kingpin of Chicago's South Side (south side of the city) neighborhood. All indications are that the perpetrator of the murder is his bodyguard, Italian-American Tony Camonte. The commissioner of the crime, crime boss Johnny Lovo, offers Camonte to be his “right-hand man.” With extraordinary brutality, Camonte asserts his authority on the South Side while trying to have an affair with Lovo's girlfriend Poppy. Disregarding Lovo's protests, he goes on to take over the north side of town as well. Kamonte is convinced that any problem can be solved with a gun. Howard Hawks made Scarface, a movie that has certainly written itself into the history of world cinema. This first gangster movie, which spawned hundreds of imitations, made a great impression on me, not at all a fan of this genre. Excellent acting, cameraman's work, script, scenery - everything is done at the highest level.

This story about the brutal criminal Tony Carmonte really deserves the highest rating. Even if you are suspicious of movies of the early XX century, still do not ignore this truly masterpiece movie.
