Panic Room 4K 2002 Ultra HD 2160p
Meg Altman and her daughter Sarah moved into a newly purchased home, previously owned by a millionaire. A nice house in a nice neighborhood, it would seem the perfect place to live. Among other things, the house is equipped with a special room in which to hide if thieves get into the house. Once the steel door a few centimeters thick is closed, it becomes impossible to get into the room. Of course, it didn't take long for the villains to show up. Three tough robbers, ready for anything. Two frightened women, mother and daughter, trying to escape them. One big score, as if hidden in the walls of their New York home ... And the main engine of the plot of this incredible in the heat of passion drama - a certain secret “room of fear”, the only place in the house, capable of providing refuge to those who hide from those who are fiercely searching. What the villains crave to obtain is in it.

It seems that Fincher's Cannes hit 'The Killer' has been released, and it was high time to check out 'The Manc' after 'Citizen Kane', but I decided to close the Gestalt of David's filmography more progressively, so now I'll talk about the excellent genre movie 'Panic Room', which I finally managed to watch 21 years after its release. I don't know how it happened that I missed it back in the day, when I've seen everything else since the DVD. Either a bad advertising campaign or I went a bit blind. Either way, better late than never.
It's worth stipulating right away: there is no definite controlling idea in this movie, or I didn't consider it. In the dry balance, imho, it's just a great genre movie that is quality and twistedly written, beautifully acted, filigree filmed and edited. The script is a cannon-race: chamber and claustrophobic action with a constant sense of suspense and worry for the main characters. A rhythmic plot that never once tugs throughout its entire running time. All in all, I was extremely pleased with what came out in the end.
The stakes were placed on the acting: the young Foster is still in 'his juice', the young debutante Stewart, who is perfectly into her character, Leto, Whitaker and Yoakam - typical criminal elements of such stories. The cameraman's work is phenomenal: very cool camera passes over obstacles, a long shot, albeit artificial, to indicate the size of the space where the action takes place. The editing is clear and enjoyable. The sound design and post-production is excellent.
'Panic Room' is a fine psychological thriller that clearly lacks a 'second bottom' on meaning. With a twisted plot and a fast-paced narrative on board, you want to watch it from start to the end credits. Fascinating, entertaining, interesting.
