User Review
This movie is the second part of the adaptation of Marcel Pagnol's novel. The wonderful French director Claude Berry made a sequel and did it perfectly. The story of the movie is deep, it was filmed decently, keeping the atmosphere and style of the novel itself. The picture is played by famous French actors, so it looks with pleasure.
In this story we see a shepherdess Manon. She was just a girl when her father died without finding the source. Now she has become a girl and lives in seclusion. Having learned that once the Subeiran family bought a farm and purposely buried the spring, Manon drives the nephew of the family to madness, then buries the spring herself and leaves everyone without water...
This movie was shot in all traditions and style of European cinema, that's why it is a golden collection of European cinematography. Now it looks with some nostalgia, its story is pure and heartfelt. One can feel the good hand of the director and also the action is balanced by the fine and lively acting of the actors.
Young Emmanuelle Behar is the main attraction in the picture. She played her Manon chicly, revealing the image of a savage woman living in the mountains. To follow her in this movie - one continuous pleasure. So much rage was in her young beauty, who avenged her father. Daniel Otoy is a very good actor, you can't even recognize him in this movie. He plays purely, not afraid of any images. His natural and relaxed play always inspires respect as an actor.
“Manon of the Spring” is a 1986 European drama by Claude Berry. The movie is deep and will be enjoyed by all those who love and appreciate European cinema. This story is full of natural beauty, desire, pain, revenge, madness, despair and lies.
